Recipe: Probiotic Chia & Quinoa Pudding

Hello & Hallo,

You might have seen all those new vegan probiotic drinks popping-up in supermarkets recently. A lot of them are super-delicious & taste more like desert than anything else. This made me think how else can I use them rather than just knocking them back.

Entrance – Chia Pudding!

Here is how it is done…

Recipe: Carrot Coriander Soup

Hello & Hallo,

I like a good soup — it feels light but still warming & filling. The best thing is that you can easily freeze them & then have the fastest, laziest weekday office lunch or a dinner when you can’t be bothered to cook.

Today I made Carrot & Coriander soup. I find this is one of the more summer-y hot soups…ideal for this cool June weather.

Reformer Pilates at Heartcore — Torture or Treat?

Hello & Hallo,

Heatcore Moorgate

Heatcore Moorgate

I like pilates but it is not my favourite class. I tend to find it a bit boring & not intense enough. But that is mat pilates! …what about its tougher sister: reformer pilates?!

I have tried this at several studios now & let me tell you: IT. IS. HARD.

I had the pleasure of doing reformer pilates at one of London’s top boutique gyms — Heartcore.

See what I think….

Porridge with Tahini & Figs

As mentioned before — I LOVE porridge🥣 😋! It is warming, keeps you full for a long time & just makes me happy. Recently I have been playing with adding not just oats but other grains & flakes like quinoa, buckwheat & brown rice.

The Brown Rice & Oat Porridge with Tahini & Figs is my new favourite! It feels like such a treat & is the prefect start to the day!

Recipe: Beetroot-Chocolate-Protein Smoothie

Hello & Hallo,

Smoothies are a great option for meal on the go – be it breakfast, after you lunchtime gym-class or even when you don’t have time for dinner – e.g. because you are going to an evening event.

Over the last year I have started to getting into smoothies and protein powders. I am on a predominately plant-based diet which can make it difficult to get in all your protein. Protein powders are a very convenient & quick way to adding this to your diet.

I tend to mix flavoured & unflavoured protein powders because the flavoured ones on their own are a bit sweet for me. By adding some unflavoured protein this is ‘diluted’.

This week I tried something a bit different – beetroot!

The taste was surprisingly nice – fruity & the chocolate flavour worked really well with it. Definitely a repeater! See the recipe below:

Yoga Teacher Training London: My Research

Hello & Hallo,

I love yoga! I just do! I love to go to classes – by myself or with friends (weekend yoga & brunch is the best, right?!). I bore my friends & family talking about yoga. I read about yoga. You get the gist 😄

So finally, last summer I decided to look into Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) – just out of curiosity…boy, did this send me on a mission! There are hundreds of studios & providers offering Yoga Teacher Trainings and various different formats & length – intensive for a few weeks, over a few month or even years. And YTTs are very, very, VERY expensive – again to varying from course to course .

SO MUCH CHOICE! Where do you start?! What do you do?!

I was quite vigilant & systematic in my approach (typical me, typical German?!) doing online research & going to info events and want to share what I found.

Berlin Yoga – A Snapshot

Hello & Hallo,

Travelling but don’t want to miss out on some time on the matt? Me neither! Thats why when I went home to Berlin I checked out some of the local yoga studios.

I visited Lagoa Yoga (www.lagoayoga.de), Spirit Yoga West & Spirit Yoga Mitte (www.spirityoga.de) and Green Yoga (http://greenyoga.co).

This is OBVIOUSLY only a very small snapshot of Berlin yoga studios…there are as many as sand on the beach! Also, I only tried a few classes by a few teachers & my preference (strong vinyasa flow / ashtanga) is probably different from what you like.

Breakfast: Chia Pudding

Hello & Hallo,

Breakfast is my FAVOURITE meal of the day – hands down! I love it! Especially porridge – so good, am I right?! But sometime EVEN I need a change from the ol’ oldmeal.

Enter: Chia Pudding! So easy, healthy & quick – why don’t I have it more?!

Chia Pudding with Mano & Chopped Pumpkin Seeds

Here is how I made it:

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (white or black)
  • ca. 80ml of milk (I used unsweetened cashew milk but any will work)
  • A dash of maple syrup

Mix the chia seeds with the milk & sweetener of choice. The chia seeds will start to expand very fast. Mix after a few minutes to avoid lumps. Put in the fridge for a few hours or over night to set. If the pudding is too thick for your liking add more milk.

In the morning add WHATEVER toppings you fancy – I chose ripe mango (delicious) & chopped pumpkin seeds. Berries & chopped nuts or nut butter would be delicious, too! Breakfast done in a flash!

Guten Appetit & Enjoy,
