My first ever Bikram Yoga Class at Sadhana Yoga Studio

I practice a lot of yoga & consider myself as advance. However, there was on type of yoga which I have been a bit scared of is Bikram yoga! Bikram is a style of yoga which is practiced in a hot (44 degree celsius) room & follows a set sequence.

I finally went along to a call! Here are my thoughts…

Review: Tuesday Brunch at Greenberry (Primrose Hill, London)

Hello & Hallo,

This Tuesday I was off & lucky enough that a good friend of mine was also not working. The natural thought — yoga & brunch! She suggested yoga at triYoga Camden & Greenberry for brunch / lunch by Primrose Hill. I live East & almost never make it to that part of town so was totally up for it!

Recipe: Beetroot-Chocolate-Protein Smoothie

Hello & Hallo,

Smoothies are a great option for meal on the go – be it breakfast, after you lunchtime gym-class or even when you don’t have time for dinner – e.g. because you are going to an evening event.

Over the last year I have started to getting into smoothies and protein powders. I am on a predominately plant-based diet which can make it difficult to get in all your protein. Protein powders are a very convenient & quick way to adding this to your diet.

I tend to mix flavoured & unflavoured protein powders because the flavoured ones on their own are a bit sweet for me. By adding some unflavoured protein this is ‘diluted’.

This week I tried something a bit different – beetroot!

The taste was surprisingly nice – fruity & the chocolate flavour worked really well with it. Definitely a repeater! See the recipe below:

Yoga Teacher Training London: My Research

Hello & Hallo,

I love yoga! I just do! I love to go to classes – by myself or with friends (weekend yoga & brunch is the best, right?!). I bore my friends & family talking about yoga. I read about yoga. You get the gist 😄

So finally, last summer I decided to look into Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) – just out of curiosity…boy, did this send me on a mission! There are hundreds of studios & providers offering Yoga Teacher Trainings and various different formats & length – intensive for a few weeks, over a few month or even years. And YTTs are very, very, VERY expensive – again to varying from course to course .

SO MUCH CHOICE! Where do you start?! What do you do?!

I was quite vigilant & systematic in my approach (typical me, typical German?!) doing online research & going to info events and want to share what I found.

Berlin Yoga – A Snapshot

Hello & Hallo,

Travelling but don’t want to miss out on some time on the matt? Me neither! Thats why when I went home to Berlin I checked out some of the local yoga studios.

I visited Lagoa Yoga (www.lagoayoga.de), Spirit Yoga West & Spirit Yoga Mitte (www.spirityoga.de) and Green Yoga (http://greenyoga.co).

This is OBVIOUSLY only a very small snapshot of Berlin yoga studios…there are as many as sand on the beach! Also, I only tried a few classes by a few teachers & my preference (strong vinyasa flow / ashtanga) is probably different from what you like.

Breakfast: Chia Pudding

Hello & Hallo,

Breakfast is my FAVOURITE meal of the day – hands down! I love it! Especially porridge – so good, am I right?! But sometime EVEN I need a change from the ol’ oldmeal.

Enter: Chia Pudding! So easy, healthy & quick – why don’t I have it more?!

Chia Pudding with Mano & Chopped Pumpkin Seeds

Here is how I made it:

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (white or black)
  • ca. 80ml of milk (I used unsweetened cashew milk but any will work)
  • A dash of maple syrup

Mix the chia seeds with the milk & sweetener of choice. The chia seeds will start to expand very fast. Mix after a few minutes to avoid lumps. Put in the fridge for a few hours or over night to set. If the pudding is too thick for your liking add more milk.

In the morning add WHATEVER toppings you fancy – I chose ripe mango (delicious) & chopped pumpkin seeds. Berries & chopped nuts or nut butter would be delicious, too! Breakfast done in a flash!

Guten Appetit & Enjoy,

London in 2 1/2 Days

Hello & Hallo,

A few weeks ago my dad visited me in London for the very first time. Not just his first time visiting me in my new home but coming to London at all.

As he had never been to London we covered all the tourist attractions possible. But I also showed my dad what I love about London. He was only here from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon – a short stay! …I tried to cover as much of this amazing city as possible!

Day 1

The Morning at Borough Market: Borough Market has a great atmosphere & there is so much to see & smell. We spend a a while wondering around here taking it all in. This was the highlight for my dad!

Professional Marketing Courses – Which One to Choose?!

Hello & Hallo,

There is so much choice…but which course to go for?!?

One of the main things that I realised when seriously started looking into studying a professional marketing degree was how many different providers there are which all offer very different course. Who is the right one?!?!

I am a Student Again – IDM Digital Marketing Diploma

Hello & Hallo

Okay, so I haven’t written anything in a LONG TIME! Live has been busy and you know how that goes…anyway, here I am once again.

2016 has been a busy year which lots of change. I have changes jobs and am now working in-house at a British fashion brand as an affiliate executive. The job is crazy buys & fun & I have learned a lot. Now I have made a decision which is going to make me a whole lot busier over the next 6-9 month – I am going to study a marketing degree whilst working full-time!

I have been thinking about doing this for several years and felt that now is the time. I did my research and decided to go ahead with the IDM (Institute of Direct & Digital Marketing). I will be doing the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing (https://www.theidm.com/marketing-qualifications/professional-diplomas/idm-professional-diploma-in-digital-marketing). The degree starts NEXT WEEK and will consist of 10 sessions, 2 assignments / essays during this time & 2 exams in June.

I hope to learn more about all sectors of digital marketing, maybe meet interesting people from the industry and support my career development.

I will be sharing information about the course as I go on and will also tell you more about why I chose the IDM over other providers soon.

Fingers crossed that it all goes well!

Bye & Tschüss,

Marlene xxx
