Professional Marketing Courses – Which One to Choose?!

Hello & Hallo,

There is so much choice…but which course to go for?!?

One of the main things that I realised when seriously started looking into studying a professional marketing degree was how many different providers there are which all offer very different course. Who is the right one?!?!

Here are some of the providers that I looked at & some top-line information:

I am a Student Again – IDM Digital Marketing Diploma

Hello & Hallo

Okay, so I haven’t written anything in a LONG TIME! Live has been busy and you know how that goes…anyway, here I am once again.

2016 has been a busy year which lots of change. I have changes jobs and am now working in-house at a British fashion brand as an affiliate executive. The job is crazy buys & fun & I have learned a lot. Now I have made a decision which is going to make me a whole lot busier over the next 6-9 month – I am going to study a marketing degree whilst working full-time!

I have been thinking about doing this for several years and felt that now is the time. I did my research and decided to go ahead with the IDM (Institute of Direct & Digital Marketing). I will be doing the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing ( The degree starts NEXT WEEK and will consist of 10 sessions, 2 assignments / essays during this time & 2 exams in June.

I hope to learn more about all sectors of digital marketing, maybe meet interesting people from the industry and support my career development.

I will be sharing information about the course as I go on and will also tell you more about why I chose the IDM over other providers soon.

Fingers crossed that it all goes well!

2016 – I am ready!!!

Happy New Year!I haven’t posted anything in a LONG time and I thought if I don’t start this week I will not post anything at all in 2016! So I’m making a start now!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas & New Year. This time is a bit odd I find. You spend very little time at work and if you do it is either crazy busy or really quiet.

Over Christmas I went home to Berlin for 10 days! This was amazing! First I thought it would be too long & at the end I almost didn’t want to come back. Being away from London for such a long stretch of time was great!

Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE London and always will. But the last few month I have not been particularly happy at work and just been in a bit of a rut in general. I feel like I was stuck and not going anywhere. The time at home gave me some distance & perspective on things. It is not so bad & if I am unhappy than I am the only person who can do something about it!

What am I doing now?! For the first time ever really I have made some New Year’s resolutions…nothing typical like stop smoking (I don’t smoke and didn’t want to take it up in order to stop) or unachievable like be chief editor of Vogue (I wish). I picked 2 resolutions which should be easy to keep.

My New Year’s resolutions are:

  1. Meet friends more often. I moved to London 3 ½ years ago but it took me a while to make friends & I want to build these friendships out further. So I am going to meet friends at least fortnightly for drinks or dinner or brunch or whatever. …I probably do this already but it is good to do it more!
  2. Get happy at / with work. Engage more at work, educate myself in marketing & others fields I’m interested in and stay open minded to change!

This is it! 2016 – show me what you got!

Bye & Tschüss,

Work/Life – Getting into a work seminar OR “If you don’t ask you don’t get”

Hello & Hallo,

Today something quite excited happened at work.

First, I need to recap. A few days ago an invite to a digital marketing seminar was sent around my office. The seminar is “Evolving Digital” presented by Net Media Planet. I thought this sounded interesting and would like to go but the invitation was meant for people in a more senior position to me. However, I decided to email my team leader anyways and asked if I could go.

Today I found out that there were enough free places for me to attend! YAY!

What I have learned from this is to always ask! If you don’t ask you don’t get. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no…and they might even say yes!

I will report back what the seminar was like.

Bye & Tschüss,

Anniversary / Jahrestag

Hello & Hallo,

3 years ago TODAY I moved to London! It is crazy how fast time goes by and the last 3 years feel long & short at once. Short because it passed so quickly & long because so much has happened – I graduated and got my MA in Media & Communications (the reason I moved here in the 1st place), I got a job & changed jobs and I moved.

This year my anniversary or Jahrestag in German feels different…as if it has got more weight & importance attached to it. I tried to pin down the reason for this and I think I now know why.

This year – now – London actually feels like home! I am not just staying here for a bit. I am living here and will continue to live & build a live here. I am here to stay & I am happy about this!

Bring on the next 3 years!

Bye & Tschüss,

Hello & Hallo!

This is it! I have finally manage to a) get a blog & b) write my first ever post! Yay!

MeI am Marlene – Berliner by birth & Londoner by choice. I love Berlin and it is where I have my roots. I moved to London in September 2011 and this amazing city is now my 2nd home. So the name “LondonBerlin” feels appropriate for this blog.

This blog will be about my live and anything & everything I care and think about – what I do, what I want to do & what I have done in the past. I will write about what I cook (I love to cook), what I do on a weekend or holiday, what I like (fashion / beauty / films / book / etc) and what I plan for my future.

I am looking forward to starting this journey and to some of you join me.

Bye & Tschüss,
